William Adams

Mr. William L. Adams, age 78, of 2395 Hartwell Highway, Elberton, husband of Genelle Davis Adams, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Athens Regional Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 2pm from Concord United Methodist Church. Revs. Jim Winn and Gary Thompson will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home, 2395 Hartwell Highway, and will receive friends from 7-9pm Friday night in Berry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Chad Hudson, Scott Hudson, Stephen Adams, Josh Scarborough, David Hendix, and Jimmy Deas.

Born in Elbert County, he was a son of the late Brewer Tate Adams and Bertha Fannie Adams. A member of Concord United Methodist Church, Mr. Adams served in the National Guard, was the owner of Adams Granite Quarry, and a member of the Elberton Granite Association. Mr. Adams is preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Outz.

Survivors include his wife, Genelle David Adams of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Jan Burdette and Steve Ramsey, and Judy & Al Hudson; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne & Kathy Adams and Bobby & Sandra Adams; sisters, Virginia Nell Griffin and Shelby Gaines; brother, Woodrow Adams; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
