Shelby Owens

Mrs. Shelby Jean Bailey Owens, age 66, of 96 Bannister Drive, Hartwell, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Rainey Hospice House Anderson, SC.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 2pm from the Chapel of The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Revs. Ben Coleman, Johnny Stowe, David Wilson, and Tommy Cleveland will officiate and burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The family is at the home and will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday night in the funeral home.

Born on January 6, 1943 in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late John Willie “Bill” Bailey and Mollie Bratcher Bailey and stepmother, Myrtice Cobb Bailey. She was retired from Bellcraft Mfg. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Montine White, Helen McLane and Novil Shirley.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Ronnie Owens of Hartwell; sons, Michael and Jeffrey Owens, both of Hartwell; sisters, Amy Stone of Lavonia, Brenda Kennedy of Royston, and Shirley Barton of Royston; and one grandchild, Chassidy Owens.
