Mrs. Rachel Viola Johnson Worley, age 87, of Elberton passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, in Elbert Memorial Hospital.The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 3pm from the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home. Revs. Douglas Huff, Virgil Manning, and Shane Cox will officiate and burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-3 just prior to the service in the funeral home on Thursday.
Born on November 23, 1921 in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late James William Johnson and Allie Jones Johnson. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and lifelong resident of Elberton. Mrs. Worley is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William LaFayette Worley.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Annette & William Boswell of Elberton, Laverne & Bobby Payton of Elberton, and Norma Faye & Larry Garrett of Royston; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Frank & Mabel Johnson of Elberton.
