Gregory Allen Harris, age 38, of Colbert, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11am from the Washington First United Methodist Church. Revs. Gale Seibert, Bill Coady, and Jim Haralson will officiate and burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 in Hopkins Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, or to the Madison County Food Bank.
Mr. Harris was born at the U. S. Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. He was a graduate of Madison County High School and later attended Athens Technical College. He was a member of the Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Colbert. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Foster and Anne Harris, of Washington, and by his paternal great grandparents, Foster and Vera Harris, who were from Carrollton.
Survivors include his parents, Allen and Faye Harris, of Colbert; maternal grandmother, Videll Davis, of Athens; maternal grandparents, Jimmy Davis and Milodean Davis, of Hinesville; and one uncle, Edward Harris, of Marietta.
