Rufus Sosby

Mr. Rufus Mitchell Sosby, Sr., age 66, of 336 Ankerich Road, Bowersville passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009 in St. Mary's Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Thusday, October 16, 2009 at 2pm from the Price Chapel Church of God. Revs. Johnny Stowe and Rodney Allen will officiate. Mr. Wesley Allen, along with the Military, will officiate the graveside service that will follow the funeral in Lavonia City Cemetery. The family is at the home of David and Carol Bowen, 153 Kelley Road, Hartwell and will receive friends from 6-9 Wednesday evening in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to Price Chapel Church of God Youth Fund, 45 Price Chapel Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.

Born on November 22, 1942 in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of the late John York Sosby and Lillie Mae White Sosby. He was a member of Price Chapel Church of God and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Sosby is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mitchell Sosby, Jr; and a sister, Carolyn Sorrells.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Millwood Sosby of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and David Beck of Bowersville and Carol and David Bowen of Hartwell; sister, Mrs. Furman Barbara Reese of Oakway, SC: grandchildren, Kayla and her husband Jacob Floyd, Johnathan Beck and Cody Trent; step-grandchildren, Jonathan Bowen and Lenay Glover; and one step-great-grandchild, Gavin Glover.
