A. Roy McCurley

Mr. A. Roy McCurley, age 88, of 480 McCurley Road, Hartwell, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009 in Hartwell Health Care Center.

The graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2pm in Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Tommy Cleveland and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. The body is in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Saturday night from 6-8pm. The family is at the home.

Born on December 31, 1920 in Hart County, he was the son of the late William Oscar McCurley and Nancy Myrtice Skelton McCurley. He was retired from Fisher Division of NVF. He was an avid Hunter and Farmer and a U.S. Army WWII Veteran serving in European Theater. Mr. McCurley is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ernestine Holloway McCurley; brothers, Dan, Ed, John, Joel and Tony McCurley; and sisters, Winnie Parrott, Mary McCurley, Dot Moore and Rachel Thornton.

Survivors include sons, Jerry McCurley and Larry McCurley of Hartwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann & Ray Guill, of Fayetteville, and Janice & Dillard Lee of Hartwell; a sister, Myra Cook of Hartwell; four grandchildren, Tim Guill, Amy McBeath, Marc Johnson and Curt Johnson; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Crystal, Abbey and Erin Johnson, Erika and Hunter McBeath and Ella Guill.
