Rev. Jonathan Ayers

Rev. Jonathan Paul Ayers, age 28, of Lavonia, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in Stephens County Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 2pm from the Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Daniel Parker will officiate and burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville, GA. The body is in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Lavonia Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5-8 Thursday night. Rev. Ayers will be placed in the church at 12noon to lie in state until the hour of service. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to Carpenters for Christ, 1108 Jody Drive, Seneca, SC 29678.

Born February 11, 1981 in Franklin County, he was the son of John Ayers and Abigail Nelson. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School. Rev. Ayers attended Luther Rice University. Jonathan was active in FFA, where he served as a State Officer. He was an ordained minister with the Southern Baptist Association and was the pastor of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Abby Hulsey Ayers; parents, John Ayers and Abigail Nelson; and sister, Rebecca Ayers Floyd.
