Dr. Joseph Samuel Turcotte, M.D., age 56, of Hartwell, died unexpectedly on August 12, 2009. Survivors include his sons Peter, Thomas and Maxwell Turcotte; daughters Jeanette Young, Alicia Dillon, Monica, Alexandra, Savannah, and Gabrielle Turcotte; father Dr. Maurice Turcotte; grandchildren Michael, Andrew, Erin and Evelyn; and eight siblings. He is preceded in death by his mother Joan H. Turcotte.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday August 17, 2009 at 10:30am from St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church with Father Peter Rau officiating. The family will received friends at the church on Sunday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM. The body was cremated. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, August 19 in Lavonia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to GA State University Physics Department in his honor.
