Glenda Eavenson

Mrs. Glenda Wright Eavenson, age 89, of Elberton, passed away August 20, 2009.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 3pm from Concord United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 2pm to lie in state until the hour of service. Revs. Troy Ayers and Jim Winn will officiate and burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eavenson was born in Jackson County, Ga., to the late George Samuel Wright and Eloise Bennett Wright. She was a longtime member of Concord United Methodist Church and UMW, Elberton Pilot Club and DAR. Mrs. Eavenson was also a retired school teacher and retired Hart County Extension Agent, a member of Georgia Retired Teacher's Association and a member of UGA Retirees Association. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles E. Eavenson.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Jim Evans of Augusta; sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie and Susan Eavenson of Oxford and Bud and Rhonda Eavenson of Gainesville; grandchildren, Lynn Hernandez of Elberton, Clay Eavenson of Land O' Lakes, Fl., Stephanie Higgins of Oxford, Jennifer Eavenson of Gainesville, Julie Anne Eavenson of Gainsville, and Beth Eavenson of Oxford; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ilene Callaway; several nieces; and nephews.
