Cynthia Eva Smith Rucker

Cynthia Eva Smith Rucker, 91, widow of the late Carl Maxwell Rucker, passed away Wednesday March 16, 2011 at Spring Valley Nursing Home.

Born in Elbert County, December 19, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Henry Thomas Smith and Eva Brown Smith. Mrs. Rucker was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elberton, a member of the Manning Coed Sunday School Class, and Altar Guild, and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Joan and Carey Kidd of Stone Mountain, GA; and son and daughter-in-law Tom and Joy Rucker of Simpsonville, SC; sisters Nell Bradford and Dot Brown both of Elberton, GA; sister-in-laws Laura Smith and Doris Rucker both of Elberton, GA; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held Friday March 18, at 2PM at the First United Methodist Church of Elberton with Rev. Wayne Smith and Rev. Sid Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2PM just prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family has requested please in lieu of flowers to make memorials in her honor to the First United Methodist Organ Fund or to United Hospice of Athens 435 Hawthorne Ave. Suite 200 Athens, GA 30606.
