Mr. R. Burkley Heaton, 77, of 555 Melody Lane, Hartwell, died Thursday, February 10 2011at Hart County Hospital.
Born on January 21, 1934 in Hart County GA, he was the son of the late Hubert T. and Olivia Ford Heaton. He was a retired Lab Technician with Owens Corning Fiberglass, a member of the Flat Shoals Baptist Church, avid gardener and loved to listen to gospel music.
He is survived by his wife Shirley N. Heaton, four brothers: Billy Heaton of Anderson SC; Roger Heaton of Hartwell, Hugh Heaton of Hartwell and Paul Heaton of Riverside CA; one sister: Elizabeth Moore of Winterville GA; Mr. Heaton was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Joe Fred Heaton; and a sister Margaret H. Miller.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Carter Tucker and Dr. Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday night. The family is at the home.
