Mac Maxwell

Mr. Joe Mac Maxwell, 71, of 3308 Hoot Owl Road, Bowman, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospice House, Bogart GA.

Born on October 18, 1939 in Bowman GA, he was the son of the late Quill Maxwell and Kate Witcher Maxwell. He was a retired Pipeline worker, a farmer, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowman.

He is survived by his wife: Carol Holmes Maxwell; three daughters: Marie Scoggins and her husband Billy of Bowman, Sheila Berrong and her husband Bill of Bowman, and Allison Kirk and her husband Clayton of Bowman; three brothers: Wallace Maxwell of Royston, Ben Maxwell of Bowman, and Dwain Maxwell of Auburn, GA; three sisters: Evelyn Maxwell of Bowman, Cordele Stamey of Anderson, SC, and Connie Maxwell of Columbia, SC; and three grandchildren: Amanda Brown, Garrett Scoggins, and Waylon Brown. Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers: Chandler Maxwell, Wyatt Maxwell, and Clyde Maxwell.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Pritchett and Rev. Reggie Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday night. The family is at the home.
