DeLeon Denard

Mr. DeLeon Denard, age 79, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009 in Wills Memorial Hospital.

The graveside service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 11am from the Resthaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30an just prior to the service in Hopkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Born on April 29, 1930 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late O.A. Denard, Sr. and Amanda Matthews Denard. Having lived in Wilkes County most of his life, he was a cattle farmer and loved gardening. Mr. Denard retired from Pet Milk, Inc. in 1987 as a Production Manager. Later working for Denard & Moore Construction Company, DeLeon was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Bufford.

Survivors include his wife, Mary S. Denard; sons and daughters-in-law, Barry & Wilma Denard and Brian & Renee` Denard; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra & Bill Lockwood and Karen & Roy Mcgee; brothers and sisters-in-law, O.A. (Jerry) Denard, Jr., Darden & Louise Denard, ad Robert Ray & Iris Denard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sybil & Milton Denard, Barbara Kester, Katrina & Carol Weber, and June (James) Baston; nine grandchildren; and nice great-grandchildren.
