Miss Crystal Ann Johnson, age 13, of 680 Old Highway 29, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Florence, SC.The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 4pm from the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Revs. Tommy Cleveland and Harry Warren will officiate and burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body is in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6-9pm Friday night. The family is at their respective homes. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to the Johnson Family Memorial Fund, c/o Oak Bower Baptist Church Building Fund, 1589 Old Highway 29, Hartwell, Georgia, 30643.
Born on August 2, 1996 in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of Angela “Angie” Carnes Whitfield and Steven of Hartwell; Vickie Wicker Johnson of Hartwell, and the late Curtis Lee “Curt” Johnson. She was an 8th grade student at Hart County Middle School, member of FFA and she loved to draw. Crystal was also a member of Oak Bower Baptist Church, the choir and the Awana program. She is preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Thomas and Betty Whitfield, Martha Kesler Carnes; and great-grandparents, Roy and Ernestine McCurley.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Angela Carnes "Angie" and Steven Whitfiled of Hartwell; stepmother, Vickie Wicker Johnson of Hartwell; brother, Cody Johnson of Hartwell; sister, Abbey Johnson of Hartwell; paternal grandparents, Dillard and Janice Lee and Kenneth and Shirley Johnson; maternal grandparents, Travis and Linda Carnes and Kerry and Jenny Wicker, all of Hartwell; and paternal great-grandparents, Russell and Jane Johnson of Elberton and Ann Williford of Lavonia.
