Rev. Thomas Whitfield

Rev. Thomas F. Whitfield, Sr., age 89, of 1817 Old Middleton Road, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 2pm from Freedom Church of God in Jackson County, Georgia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Curtis and Ann Vaughn, 1817 Old Middleton Road, and will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday night in Berry Funeral Home. Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made in his honor to a charity of one's choice.

He was a son of the late Clarence Whitfield and Ida Bryant Whitfield, and a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in WWII. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta Hamby Whitfield; and a son, Paul Whitfield.

Survivors include daughters, Ann Vaughn and Lois Duggan; sons, Thomas F. Whitfield, Jr. and Rev. David Whitfield; sister, Lucille Murphy; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
