Jimmy "Smitty" Smith

Mr. Jimmy Earl "Smitty" Smith, age 58, of Royston passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in his home.

Born December 3, 1950 in Delhi, LA, he was the son of Estelle Wyatt Smith and the late C.H. Smith. He was in the Construction Industry and attended Holly Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was also a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Goss Smith of the home; son, Brian P. Smith of Bowman, GA; mother, Estelle Wyatt Smith ; brothers, Tom Smith of Brandon, MS, Charles Smith of Tallulah, LA, and James Smith of Bridge City, TX; sisters, Gladys S. Williams of Tallulah, LA, Thelma S. Cox of Monroe, LA and Cindy Head of Monroe, LA.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 11am from Holly Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Westbrook, Rev. Jonathan Ayers and Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 2pm in the Cooksville Methodist Church Cemetery in Paulette, MS with Rev. Glenn Miller officiating. The body is in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 – 9pm and will be placed in the church Friday at 10:30.
