JoElla Hanvey

Mrs. Janie “JoElla” Bond Hanvey, age 83, of 29 Cherry Circle, Hartwell, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009 in Hartwell Healthcare Center.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 2pm from the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. David Toulson will officiate and burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Elberton. The body is in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where they family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday night. The family is at the home of Danny and Peggy Seymour, 166 Cherry Circle, Hartwell.

Born October 4, 1925 in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Omer Bond, Sr and Pauline Morris Bond. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Lavonia. Mrs. Hanvey is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Edgar Hanvey; and a son, Thomas Paul “Tommy” Hanvey.

Survivors include her son, Edgar Hanvey of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Anita Martin of Jefferson, Jo Anne Bowen of Anderson, SC, Judy Forrest of Anderson, SC and Peggy Seymour of Hartwell; brother, Arthur Bond of Tampa, FL; sister, Betty Childs of Elberton; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
