Mildred McAvoy

Mrs. Mildred Nunn McAvoy, age 89, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2009 in her home.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 3pm from the Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Revs. John King and Jamie Callaway will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 2, 2009 from 6-8 in Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington. Pallbearers will include Tommy Swann, Dean Nunn, Doug Saxon, Joe Hardy, and Glen Gabriel. Mrs. McAvoy's great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to T.J. & Friends.

Survivors include her husband of sixty six years, Dan McAvoy; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Jimmy Saxon, Carlton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry McAvoy, Washington, Curtis and Linda McAvoy, Athens and Donnie and Claudia McAvoy, Comer; brother and sisters-in-law, Warren and Lois Nunn, Washington and Becky Hargadon, Marietta; six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
