James Dyar Thompson

Mr. James Dyar Thompson, 79, of 4412 Elberton Hwy, Hartwell, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Hart County Hospital.

Born on August 20, 1931 in Fairmount, GA, he was the son of the late Clarence Dyar Thompson and Florine Stewart Thompson. He was a retired expeditor in parts procurement at Lockheed-Martin for 45 years, was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, a Mason, a former member of Toastmasters, and was a US Army Korean War Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor Thompson; two sons: Rick Thompson of Hiram, GA, and Philip Thompson and his wife, Jean, of Acworth, GA; one daughter: Beverly T. Cox and her husband, David, of Hartwell; one brother: Joe Thompson of Cartersville, GA; four grandchildren: Hayden Thompson, Paige Thompson, Caleb Cox, and Evan Cox. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. John Silver officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Sardis Baptist Church. The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Sardis Baptist Church Youth Fund, 4359 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
