Gladys Rowe

Mary Gladys Slaton Rowe, 82, of Calhoun Falls, died peacefully at her home, with her two daughters by her side, on Monday, March 28, 2011.

Mrs. Rowe was born in Dunn, NC to the late Bud and Johnnie Holmes. She was the former owner and operator of Slaton's Cafe & Grocery Store in Calhoun Falls and a member of the Calhoun Falls First Baptist Church. Mrs. Rowe was commonly known by her tag on her car as a "Lady of a Noble."

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rowe was preceded in death by her husbands, J.W. Slaton and Berry B. Rowe; a son, James Olin Slaton; three brothers, Holbert, Delmus and George Holmes and a sister, Mildred Norris.

Surviving Mrs. Rowe are her two daughters, Janet Beasley and her husband, Gary, of Dunn, NC and Dian S. Norryce and her husband, Larry, of Abbeville; a son, Ronnie Hamilton and his wife, Debbie, of Dunn, NC; a sister, Pearl Hamilton, of Dunn, NC; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Calhoun Falls First Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in the church with the Rev. Herman Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family is at the home.
