Dorothy McGee "Dot" Estes

Mrs. Dorothy McGee “Dot” Estes, 91, of 370 Cleveland Ave, Hartwell, died Saturday, March 5 at her home.

Born on May 6, 1919 in Ashville NC, she was the daughter of the late James Albert McGee and Sallie Pruitt McGee. She was a retired beautician, member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and served on the Cemetery Committee.

Survivors include her son, Terry Q. Estes and his wife Kathy of Canon; two sisters, Elton Bryson and Marie Herring both of Hartwell; two grandchildren, Beau Estes and his wife Becky and Katie Eaton and her husband Jonathan; a great-grandchild, James Eaton also survives. Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by her husband, J. Hugh Estes, three brothers, Benson McGee, Quinton McGee and Marvin McGee and two sisters, Minnie Clyde McGee and Edna Adams.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Wagner and Rev. Martha Dye officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m., where the family will receive friends until the funeral hour. The family is at their respective homes.
