Dewey William Bailey

Mr. Dewey William Bailey, 88, of 542 Will Bailey Road, Hartwell, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Hart County Hospital.

Born on May 26, 1922 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late William James Bailey and Sallie Leona Wilson Bailey. He retired as a ASCS field agent after over 30 years of service, was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690, and served in the US Navy on the USS Black Hawk in the Pacific. He was also a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he attended the McDoyle Sunday School Class, was a former boys Sunday School teacher, served as the church clerk for 48 years, was a Deacon, served on various church committees, was a RA Leader, and coached church and recreational teams.

He is survived by his wife: Juanita Vickery Bailey; one son: Drew Bailey and his wife, Megan, of Hartwell; one daughter: Sally Timmerman and her husband, Michael, of Suwanee; two grandchildren: William Bailey Timmerman and Bailey Lindsey Timmerman. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Ray Bailey, Carl Bailey, Alton Bailey, James Bailey; and two sisters: Myrtice McLane Simpson, and Ruby Nell Denton.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Black officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday at the church prior to the service. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made out to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
