Mr. Edward Garrett Dunson Sr., age 71, of Dahlonega, formerly of Washington, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009 in the Northeast Georgia medical Center in Gainesville, GA following an extended illness.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 2pm from the Fishing Creek Baptist Church. Revs. Roy Cates and Ronnie Fendley will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 11am on Tuesday in the Banister Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 12noon to lie in state until the hour of service.
Mr. Dunson was a native of Wilkes County, GA who had lived in Lumpkin County since 1975. He was a former resident of Alpharetta, GA. He worked in the construction industry for many years and was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church in Tignall, GA. He was the son of the late Jesse Lee Dunson and Nettie Jenkins Dunson and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Dunson; a sister, Sue Morgan; and brothers, Norman Dunson and Julius Dunson.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Doris Dunson, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Frank Spinelli, Dahlonega, GA, Lena Mae and David Dornhecker, Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Jr. and Patty Dunson, Dahlonega, GA; and sisters, Orene Wolfe, Sparta, GA, Beatrice Land, Social Circle, GA, Mary Ruth Fendley, Cleveland, GA, and Jeanette Pullum, Locust Grove, GA. 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.
