Mrs. Carolyn Bowers McClain, age 27, of 220 Arch Parks Road, Hartwell, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in Greenville Memorial Hospital. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 7pm from the Hartwell Chapel of The Strickland Funeral Hone. Revs. Joe Black and Scott Mize will officiate and the body is being cremated. The family is at the home of Betty Stone, 391 Mt. Olivet School Road, Hartwell and will receive friends from 6-7 Thursday and again following the memorial service at the funeral home. The family requests no flowers; memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005 or to defray funeral and medical expenses.
Born on February 7, 1982 in Charleston, SC and was a the daughter of Pam Carnes and Steve Bowers. Carolyn was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Katelyn McClain of Hartwell; mother, Pam Carnes and Jeff Dobbs of Hartwell; father, Steve and Wanda Bowers of Anderson; brother, Christopher and Amanda Bowers of Flagstaff, AZ; paternal grandparents, Farris and Christine Bowers of Hartwell; maternal grandparents, Betty Stone of Hartwell and the late Care Stone and Marvin and Wanda Carens of Hampton, GA.
