Mrs. Marjorie E. Barton, age 93, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law, passed away October 18, 2009.
The graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 1:30pm from Evergreen Cemetery in Athens. Rev. Ken Whitfield will officiate and interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 10-11 just prior to the service in Hicks Funeral Home. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to the Elberton First Baptist Church, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
Mrs. Barton was born in Oglethorpe County to the late Raymond England and Julie Bray England. She was a member of Elberton First Baptist Church for over 20 years, and has been a resident at Spring Valley Nursing Home for the last 4 years. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Roscoe Barton, and a daughter, Martha Barton Rook of Charleston, SC.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill & Diana Barton of Marietta; four grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
