Gladys Thrasher

Mrs. Gladys Baker Thrasher of 5710 Reed Creek Highway, Hartwell, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 in Hart County Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 2pm from the Chapel of The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Rev. Eddie Simmons and Mr. Fred Greenway will officiate and burial will follow in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home, 5710 Reed Creek Highway and will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday night in the funeral home.

Born August 13, 1920 in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Tillman Baker and Beatrice Wright “Monkey” Baker. She was retired from Hart County School System where she was Food Service Manager at Hart County Junior High. She was a member of the Nancy Hart Chapter of OES, former Hart County Mother of the Year, member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church and Lydia Sunday School Class. Mrs. Thrasher is preceded in death by husband, Andrew J. Thrasher; a son, Joe E. Thrasher; a grandson, Mark Chasteen; and two brothers, Bennie Baker and Thomas Baker.

Survivors include her daughters, Polly Stowe and her husband Ken of Hartwell and Mary Lowery and her husband Eddie of Hartwell, GA; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Thrasher of Hartwell; sister, Becky Cleveland and her husband Junior of Hartwell; grandchildren, Anna & Marty Clark, Bobbie & Ricky Ballenger, Julie Yeargin, Kristen Steele, and Robin & Todd Dahlman; great-grandchildren, Macon & Kayla Clark, LeeAnn Clark, Andrew Ballenger, Alex Ballenger, Mallory Rowland, Justin Gray, April Verner, Sara Ellen Mercer and Gaines Mercer; and great-great grandchildren, Sam, Hunter & Tyler.
