Mr. Joseph P. "Joe" Ayers, age 78, of Dewy Rose passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 11am from the Hicks Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Michael Marcengill will officiate and burial will follow in Rehoboth Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, June 17, 2009 from 6-8pm in Hicks Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to:
Rehoboth Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Ayers was the son of the late George Washington Ayers, Sr. and Georgia Hannah Pulliam Ayers. Having served in the US Army, he was the retired owner of Bowman Hardware and was a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church. Rev. Michael Marcengill will officiate and burial will follow in Rehoboth Baptist Church cemetery. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dixie Mae Maxwell Ayers; his brothers, Ira Ayers, Glen Ayers, Omer Ayers, and G.W. Ayers, Jr.; and his sisters, Anna Belle Ayers, Gladys Gaines, Ressie Mae Butler, Evelyn Hood, and Hannah Ruth Myers.
