Mr. Hubert Eaves, age 85, of 651 E. Johnson Street, Hartwell, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Cobb Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 2pm from the Hartwell Chapel of The Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Cleveland and Rev. Bruce Eaves will officiate and burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body is in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Thursday from 1-2pm prior to the service. The family is at the home. Born on April 11, 1924 in Hart County, he was the son of the late George R. Eaves and Ella Chastain Eaves. He retired from Hartwell Fire Department in 1993 with 52 years of service. Mr. Eaves was a member of Oak Bower Baptist Church, Hartwell Bass Club and a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theater. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Dalford, Larry, Balaus, Frank and Robert Eaves; sisters, Lilly Mae Whitfield, Annie Lizzie Bailey, Ruth Williams, Ella Kate Ethridge and Emmie Harlow.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Sanders Eaves of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory L. and Margaret Eaves of Anderson, SC; grandchildren and grand-daughter-in-law, Benjamin Lee and Danja Eaves and Anna Rebecca Eaves; and great grandchildren, Asher Benjamin Eaves and Josiah Nathaniel Eaves.
