Mr. James Harold Maret, age 86, of 425 Melody Lane, Hartwell, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Hart County Hospital.
The funeral service will held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. form the Chapel of The Strickland Funeral Home in Hartwell. Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Scott Mize will officiate and burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body is in The Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to:

Born on March 18, 1923 in Hart County, he was the son of the late Wallace Maret and Mary Elizabeth Wilson Maret. He was retired Co-owner & operator of Maret Grain & Milling Co. Mr. Marett was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, former deacon & member of the McDowell SS Class. Harold was a former farmer, former coach & treasurer with the Hart County Little League and a WWII US Army veteran, where he served in the European theater as an Anti-Aircraft Gunner. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brad Smith; three brothers, Hugh Maret, Monroe Maret and Bobbie Joe Maret and two sisters, Kate Vassar and Montez Fleming.
Survivors include his wife, Janie White Maret of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Beth Maret of Hartwell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Vic Theiling of Atlanta and Lynn and Bobby Harde of Bishop; five grandchildren, Sarah Frost, James Maret, Charles Theiling, John Maret and Matthew Harder; and a brother, Herbert Maret of Hartwell.
