Mrs. Jimmie Rhodes Sanders, age 81, of Elberton passed away on August 13, 2009.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 3pm from Northside Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 2pm. Rev. David McConnell and Rev. Sonny Peevy will officiate and buriwl will follow in Concord United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening in Hicks Funeral Home. Born in Elbert County on January 27, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Eva Audrey Mattox Rhodes. Mrs. Sanders was a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church where she served as Church Secretary for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Doris Sanders.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Marshall Sanders of Elberton; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Frank Dantism of Concord, NC; son and daughter-in-law, David Mark and Trish Sanders on Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Suzanne Dantism, Christopher Dantism, Matthew Dantism, Mary Sanders, and Emily Sanders; sisters, Sara Frances Smith and Betty Jo Poole, both of Elberton; and several nieces and nephews.
